Find an Idea: Get Money from Water
In English, there is the concept of serendipity. In literal translation, it means intuitive insight. But in business, such a resounding word is used when it comes to a discovery that was visible to everyone, but which no one noticed. An interesting example of such an insight is the Croatian company that sells sea water!
“As a child, I often suffered from bronchitis, and every winter I had to take antibiotics. Until the pediatrician advised my mother to take me to the sea more often. Every year I spent two weeks on the Adriatic Sea (in summer and winter), and my health problems disappeared, “begins the story of the idea of creating therapeutic and prophylactic preparations based on sea water, director of the Aqua Maris Institute Anna-Maria Donadich.
In general, the healing properties of sea water and the coastal climate as a whole have been known since ancient times. Another legendary doctor, Hippocrates, whose oath was begun by modern doctors, recommended compresses with sea water for pain in the bones, prescribed to take it inside for indigestion and prescribed bathing in the sea for wounds and skin diseases. Nowadays, the knowledge gained over thousands of years about the healing properties of the marine climate has taken shape in a whole branch of clinical medicine – thalassotherapy (from the Greek words thalassa – “sea” and therapia – “treatment”).
So the real insight was not the use of sea water, but the idea that it could be sold. Before Anna-Maria Donadich and her colleagues, this idea seemed to have never occurred to anyone. But wait, the sophisticated reader will say, how did this not come? Yes, how many cases of trading in a wide variety of water are known, which they just did not give out and what miraculous properties they did not attribute to it. And a worthy opponent of the Great Combinator, the cunning citizen Koreiko earned millions from ordinary tap water, never giving it out, but only literally overflowing it from empty to empty. But the fact of the matter is that all this was not a commercial enterprise, designed for long-term development and profit-making, but a momentary scam on the principle of “cheating and running.” But it was precisely the business model that the idea of trading in seawater became, it seems, in the hands of Anna-Maria Donadich and her associates.
What is the Croatian pharmacist know how? After all, her company does not hide that it trades ordinary sea water from the Adriatic, even if it is purified and diluted to an isotonic state. All cimus is in its pristine nature. It has long been proven that seawater is extremely close in composition to human blood plasma and other body fluids, so much so that during World War II, purified seawater was used as saline for the wounded who suffered from heavy blood loss. This circumstance, by the way, is one of the arguments in favor of the theory that life originated in the primeval ocean.
It has long been known that most human ailments result from disturbances in the body’s homeostasis. And what is the best way to restore the natural environment of an absorbed individual as a non-natural analogue of internal fluids? Treat the like with similar ones, the demonic character of the great novel Mikhail Bulgakov, a doctor by training, advised. Moreover, the healing power of sea water is well known. So Anna-Maria Donadich decided not to reinvent the wheel, but to adopt what is much there on the Adriatic coast of her native Croatia and whose effectiveness she was able to test from her own experience.
But this insight alone was not enough for the commercial use of sea water. The catch was that it quickly loses its healing properties in a closed container. Also, they cannot be restored when diluted with ordinary water salts evaporated from seawater. We can say that sea water is a unique biomineral complex that cannot be stored and recreated for long periods at home. But like-minded Donadich did not seek to do this. Recalling the experience of military doctors, they decided to create a saline solution for topical application on the basis of sea water, which would help restore the functioning of the mucous membranes of the nose and larynx, disrupted by various inflammatory processes. And for maximum efficiency, make it isotonic, that is, identical in plasma concentration.
Based on this saline solution, a popular series of therapeutic and prophylactic preparations Aqua Maris was created, with practically no contraindications. Thus, Anna-Maria Donadich and her colleagues proved that with the necessary knowledge and an uncomplicated outlook on things, you can honestly make money even out of the water.
